288 Dead 803 Injured After Horrific Biggest Train Crash

At least 288 people were killed and around 803 were injured in a horrific three-train collision in Odisha's Balasore

Officials said Saturday, the country's deadliest rail accident in more than 20 years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the train accident site and met with injured people at hospitals in Cuttack.

The crash involved the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train

The accident saw one train ram so hard into another that carriages were lifted high into the air, twisting and then smashing

Another carriage had been tossed entirely onto its roof, crushing the passenger section.

"Everything was shaking and we could feel the coach toppling," said the injured passenger.

Mr Vaishnaw has announced compensation of ₹ 10 lakh for the families of those who have died, ₹ 2 lakh for injured.

And ₹ 50,000 for those who sustained minor injuries in the accident.
