Why Momos Are The Most Loved Street Food In India?

Momo is an iconic Tibetan delicacy that is now popular all across the world, many different varieties have evolved lately.

There are conventionally three types of momos: steamed, fried & pan-fried. The traditional momo steamer is called a mucktoo.

'Momo' is a Chinese word meaning steamed dumpling. Also, it is the colloquial form of the Tibetan word 'mog mog'.

Steamed momos have fewer calories and can be substituted for salad. The total calorie in one momo is around 35 kcal.

It is believed that Momos came to India in the 1960s when a large number of Tibetans entered the country after Chinese War.

Momo, which is considered to become the number one street food in India, is estimated to be close to $2.7 billion market.
