Chandrika Prasad Santokhi, Suriname President to be the Chief Guest of Repubilc Day Parade
The President of Suriname Republic in South America, Mr. Chandrika Prasad Santokhi, is expected to be the chief guest at the Republic Day Parade of India on 26 January. According to the sources, Prime Minister’s Office have confirmed this.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was also invited to participate in the Republic Day Parade, but due to the rapid spread of coronavirus, he cancelled his tour to India.

Elon Musk becomes the world’s richest man
Elon Musk on January 7 overtook Jeff Bezos to become the world’s richest man for the first time. Tesla shares closed 8% higher on Thursday which led to a boost in net worth of its CEO over $ 186 Billion. Whereas, Amazon’s shares closed less than 1% higher, lifting Bezos’ net worth to $ 185 Billion.
Elon Musk’s fortune has ballooned by $150 Billion in the past year, after stock price of electric-vehicle company rocketed up by 740% in 2020.

Chinese Billionaire Jack Ma suspected to be missing
Founder of Alibaba Group, Chinese Billionaire Jack Ma is suspected to be missing following his mysterious disappearance from the public eye for over two months. He was in news after he gave a speech criticising regulators of China and State-owned banks for their ‘backwardness’.
Jack Ma was slated to appear as a star judge on the season finale of Africa’s Business Heroes, a reality TV show created by his own philanthropic organization. However, the show’s broadcast was postponed due to his disappearance.

Soma Mandal appointed as Chairperson of SAIL
Soma Mandal is all set to be the first woman to head the Steel Authority of India (SAIL), a state-owned and country’s largest steel manufacturing company. She took over the role of new Chairperson on January 1, 2021. She is not only the first woman Functional Director of SAIL but also the first woman Chairperson of the Company.
