HDFC Bank tops the BFSI Movers and Shakers 2020 Report
As per the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) - Movers and Shakers 2020 Report, HDFC Bank has secured the 1st rank in the list of 100 banks. Wizikey has prepared the report on the basis of the banking business made by the top 100 banks in India, Wallets, Neobanks, Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs), Small Finance Banks and Payments Banks. ICICI Bank has been placed at the 2nd position followed by SBI, Yes Bank and PNB. The report also revealed that Google Pay has secured the top spot followed by Phone Pe in the wallet category.

Gists of Report on Trend and Progress of Banking in India 2019-20
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the ‘Report on Trend and Progress of Banking in India 2019-20’. The focus of the report was ‘Impact of COVID-19 on banking and non-banking sectors, and the way forward’. As per the report, the Gross Non-Performing Assets (GNPA) ratio fell from 9.1 % to 7.5 %. The report also revealed that the performance of State Cooperative Banks (SCBs) has improved in terms of asset quality and profitability. The report revealed that operational risks are the biggest threats for the banking sector.
India accounts for 77 % of Total FDI inflow to South & South West Asia in 2019, says UN ESCAP’s Report
As per the ‘Foreign Direct Investment Trends and Outlook in Asia and the Pacific 2020-21’ , India accounts for 77 % of the Total Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflow to South and South West Asian Sub region in 2020. The report was released by United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). As per the report India received a total of US $ 51 billion as FDI in 2019 where most of the investments were made in the field of Information & Communication Technology (ICT), e-Commerce and Construction sector.

India is now the 6th largest economy in the world, says WELT 2021 Report
As per the 12th edition of World Economic League Table (WELT) 2021 report, India has been placed at the 6th position in the list of 193 countries. The report was released by Centre for Economics & Business Research Ltd (CEBR) which is a UK-based think tank organization. As per the report, USA is the largest economy in the world followed by China. India was the 5th largest economy in 2019 but it slumped to the 6th place due to the ongoing pandemic. The report also revealed that India will become the 5th largest economy of the world again by 2025 and 3rd largest economy by 2030. China will become the largest economy of the world by 2028.

India secures 3rd rank among 25 countries in Nature Index 2020 Artificial Intelligence
As per the ‘Nature Index 2020 Artificial Intelligence Report’, India has been placed at the 3rd position in terms of most number of publications on Artificial Intelligence (AI) from 2015 to 2019. The report was released by the international scientific publishing company, Nature Research. China has topped the list followed by USA and India. India published 91,563 publications on AI from 2015 to 2019. India’s Anna University, Chennai has secured 32nd rank in the list of Top 100 Research Organizations in the field of AI. It is the only institute from India to get in top 100.

Around 2.1billion people in Asia are devoid of water supply and sanitation, says ADB Report
As per the ‘Asian Water Development Outlook 2020 (AWDO 2020): Advancing Water Security across Asia and the Pacific’, around 2.1 billion people in Asia-Pacific region lack proper water supply and sanitation, The report was released by Asian Development Bank (ADB). The report revealed that around 1.5 billion and 0.6 billion people in rural and urban areas respectively lack adequate supply of water and proper sanitation facilities in Asia. As per the 4th edition of AWDO, India has shown a major improvement in providing sanitation in the rural areas from 2014 to 2019.
World Bank revises EODB 2020 Report, India ranked 63rd
World Bank has revised the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) 2018 and EODB 2020 Report after correcting the irregularities in the data submitted by China, Unite Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan. As per the 17th edition of revised ‘Ease of Doing Business 2020 –Comparing Business Regulation in 1902 Economies’ report, India has been ranked 63rd among 190 countries with a score of 71.0. New Zealand topped the list with score of 86.8 followed by Singapore and Hong Kong (China). The revised EODB report has placed China at the 85th position which earlier placed at 78th position.

India ranked 111th among 162 nations in Human Freedom Index 2020
As per the 6th edition of Human Freedom Index 2020: A Global Measurement of Personal, Civil and Economic Freedom Annual Report, India has been placed at the 111th position with an overall Human Freedom Index (HFI) score of 6.43. The report has been prepared by Cato Institute of United States and Fraser Institute of Canada. The Index Report has been prepared by Ian Vasquez and Fred McMahon on the basis of data collected from 2008 to 2018. New Zealand has topped the list with an HFI score of 8.87, followed by Switzerland and Hong Kong.

India will have more than 350 million 5G connections by 2026, says the Ericsson Mobility Report
As per the Ericsson Mobility Report 2020, subscriptions of 5th Generation or 5G network will cross 350 million mark by 2026 in India. The report has been prepared by Swedish networking and communication giant, Ericsson. The overall 5G network subscriptions in India will account for 27% of total mobile subscriptions by the end of 2026. The report also revealed that the upcoming 5G network will cover 60 % of the total population of the world by 2026. The 5G network is capable of providing peak data speed up to 20 Gb/sec.

High building related CO2 emissions in 2019, says Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction
As per the 5th edition of Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction, the ‘Building and Construction’ sector accounted for 38 % of the overall CO2 emissions in 2019. The CO2 emissions increased to 9.95 gigatonnes (Gt) in 2019. The report has been released by Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (Global ABC). High emissions of CO2 by the Construction sector was due to the rampant use of coal, oil and natural gas for fueling the machineries.
Findings of National Family Health Survey 2019-20
National Family Health Survey-5 (NFHS 2019-20) report was released by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare. The report has been prepared after collecting data from 22 states and 5 Union Territories and the assessment was done on the basis of child health, family welfare and nutrition. As per the report, there has been a decline in the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) and increment in overall Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (CPR) as compared to NFHS-4. There has been an increase in institutional births and overall children immunization.

India ranked 131st among 189 countries in the Human Development Report 2020
As per the ‘Human Development Report 2020- The next frontier: Human Development and the Anthropocene’, India has been placed at the 131st position in the list of 189 countries. It was prepared by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). India scored 0.645 Human Development Index (HDI) points. The report has been prepared after the assessment of nations on the basis of Life expectancy, Education, Per Capita Income and Planetary pressure. India was at the 129th spot in the Human Development Report 2019. Norway topped the list with 0.957 HDI points followed by Ireland and Switzerland.

Global electricity demand to fall by 2% in 2020, says Electricity Market Report
As per 1st edition of Electricity Market Report, the global demand for electricity is expected to fall by 2 % due to the lockdown in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The global electricity demand fell by 0.6 % in 2009 due to the Global Financial Crisis. The report reveals that the global electricity demand will rise by 3 % in 2021. 1.8 billion people across the world lack WASH provisions, says the join report of WHO and UNICEF
As per the ‘Fundamentals first: Universal water, sanitation and hygiene services in health care facilities for safe, quality care’ report, around 1.8 billion people across are at high risk of COVID-19 and other diseases due to the lack of basic provisions of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). The joint report has been prepared by World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) which covers 165 countries representing 75,000 facilities around the world. The report revealed that 1 in every 4 health care facilities has no water services and 1 in every 3 facilities is devoid of hand hygiene.

Ischemic Heart Disease causes most deaths globally, says WHO’s 2019 Global Health Estimates
According to the 2019 Global Health Estimates released by World Health Organization (WHO), Ischemic Heart Disease has caused most number of deaths across the world. Ischemic Heart Disease accounted for 16 % of the total global deaths from 2000 to 2019. The report reveals that Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) constitute 7 of 10 diseases causing most number of deaths globally. NCDs collectively account for 44 % of the total global deaths. The top 10 death causing diseases are- Ischemic Heart Disease, Stroke, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Lower Respiratory Infections, Neonatal Conditions, Trachea, Bronchus & Lungs Cancer, Alzheimer’s & Dementia, Diarrheal diseases, Diabetes Mellitus, Kidney Diseases.

New category for LGBT+ added for the first time in India Workplace Equality Index
India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) Top Employers 2020 Report has included a new category for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans+ (LGBT+). IWEI 2020 has been launched by Keshav Suri Foundation (KSF), Pride Circle, Stonewall & Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). IWEI acts as a tool for measuring the progress made in Indian Workplaces in a year. IWEI is based on 9 criteria upon which the assessment of the employers is carried out. Godrej Group & Hindustan Unilever are the 2 Indian companies to win Gold Award in IWEI. Tata Steel, Wipro, Hinduja Global Solutions have been given Silver Award.
India ranked 2nd in Bloomberg New Energy Finance- Climatescope Survey 2020
India has been ranked 2nd among 29 states in the Climatescope Survey 2020 conducted by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF). Chile has been ranked 1st in the list and Brazil secured the 3rd spot. India topped the Climatescope Survey Report 2019 as the investment in clean energy was more as compared to this year. As per the survey, Mainland China and India are the biggest markets for clean energy investment. The Survey also revealed that India and China account for $ 94 billion of new solar and wind energy investment with 76 Gigawatt (GW) build in 2019. India’s Clean Energy Investment has declined by 12% as compared to the next year.
Global CO2 emissions to decline by 7 % in 2020 due to pandemic, says Emission Gap Report 2020
Emission Gap Report 2020 released by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) reveals that global Carbon Dioxide emissions is expected to decline by 7 % this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The report reveals that countries like USA, European Union, Australia and New Zealand, which have the richest 1 % global population account for more than twice the CO2 emission as compared to the poorest 50% of countries. The reduction in global Carbon Dioxide emissions account for the reduction of global temperature by 0.01◦C by 2050.

India ranked 9th in the Truecaller Spam Calls Report 2020
India has been ranked 9th in terms of number of registered spam calls in the report released by Truecaller. As per the report, there has been a decline in the total number of spam calls registered in India this year. The report reveals that maximum spam calls were registered from Gujarat followed by Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Brazil has been ranked 1st globally followed by USA and Hungary. Truecaller revealed that most of the spam calls registered in India were based on Know Your Customer (KYC) and One Time Password (OTP). Truecaller’s report also reveals that 8 out of 10 women in India receive sexually harassing and inappropriate calls and SMS regularly.
UNESCO releases State of Education Report for India 2020
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has released the 2nd edition of State of Education Report for India 2020: Technical and Vocational Education and Training. The report reveals the present capacity of Technical and Vocational Education and Training through long and short courses. The report has been prepared by UNESCO, New Delhi in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. As per the SDG 4, representing quality education, Himachal Pradesh has performed the best with a score of 81. Chandigarh and Kerala topped in the Complete SDG with a score of 70.

India ranked 10th in the 16th Climate Change Performance Index 2021
India has been ranked 10th among 57 countries in the 16th edition of Climate Change Performance Index 2021 (CCPI 2021) released by Germany-based non-profit and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Germanwatch. India scored 63.98 out of 100. India ranked 9th in the CCPI 2020 with a score of 66.02 out of 100. Germanwatch made an assessment on the basis of 14 indicators divided among the four categories. No country has been placed in the top three spots as not a single nation has performed satisfactorily as per the indicators of CCPI 2021. Sweden came out as the best performer by securing the 4th position with a score of 74.42 out of 100. Sweden topped in the Green House Gases (GHG) Emissions, Renewable Energy and Climate Policy categories.

Mumbai tops Urban Quality of Life Index 2020
Mumbai has been ranked 1st among the 14 cities in the Urban Quality of Life Index 2020. The index has been released by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-Bombay). The assessment of the cities was done on the basis of 29 indicators distributed in 7 categories. As per the Index Delhi has been ranked 2nd followed by Kolkata and Chennai. Patna secured the last position in the Index. As per the Index, Hyderabad has the maximum number of treated water connections and has been ranked 5th in the Index. Crime Rate against women was highest in Jaipur and lowest in Chennai. Literacy Rate was highest in Pune and lowest in Hyderabad among the 14 cities.

Asia University Rankings
The National University of Singapore has topped the list of Quacquarelli Symonds rankings of the top 50 universities for higher education present in Asia. The list reveals that no Indian University from India has qualified to be in the top 10 categories. IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, and IIT Madras have made it to the top 50 list.
WHO’s World Malaria Report 2020
According to the World Health Organisation’s The World Malaria Report 2020, India has recorded the largest reduction in malaria cases in South-East Asia between the year 2000-19. India has thus made impressive gains in the global fight against malaria, The reduction in the cases have been from 20 million in 2000 to about 5.6 million in 2019.

Lahore tops the List Of World's Most Polluted Cities and Delhi Ranks Second in the list.
- According to the US Air Quality Index, Pakistan's cultural capital Lahore has once again topped the list of the world's most polluted cities.
- The PM rating for the city was 423.
- New Delhi stood second with a PM of 229 came in second.
- Nepal’s Kathmandu was ranked third.
- An AQI under 50 is regarded as ‘satisfactory’ air quality.

Reliance tops 2020 Fortune 500 Ranking list of Indian Companies
2020 Fortune 500 Ranking list of Indian Companies has listed Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) at the 1st rank. RIL topped the list for the 2nd time. Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) secured the 2nd rank in the list. RIL’s revenue in 2020 was Rs. 615,854 crores whereas IOCL gained a revenue of Rs. 493,932.99 crores. Natural Gas Corporation was ranked 3rd in the list with a total revenue of Rs. 405,243.31 crores. The Fortune India 500 list was prepared on the basis of revenue generated and the figures of the financial year 2019-20.

In the OCED list of educated migrants living in the developed rich countries, India tops the list.
- OECD has revealed that there are around 120 million migrants in OECD Countries.
- 30-35% of them are highly educated.
- India topped the list with more than 3 mn highly educated migrants
- It constitutes about 65% of the total educated migrants.
- China ranks second with a rate of 48.6% or 2.25 million people.
