Uttar Pradesh wins the ‘Best Tableau’ award at the 72nd Republic Day parade
The tableau of Uttar Pradesh won the ‘Best Tableau’ award at the 72nd Republic Day parade on 26th January, 2021. UP was declared as the winner of the tableau among 32 tableaux of States and UTs. UP’s tableau was based on the theme ‘Ayodhya: The cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh’. The award was presented by the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju presented the awards to the participants. Department of Biotechnology’s tableau won the ‘Best Tableau’ award among the various departments and ministries.
Rajasthan launches a new phase of Ayushman Bharat Mahatma Gandhi Rajasthan Swasthya Bima Yojana
A new phase of Rajasthan government’s insurance scheme ‘Ayushman Bharat Mahatma Gandhi Rajasthan Swasthya Bima Yojana’ was launched by Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot at Jaipur. Under the scheme, the beneficiaries will be provided free-of-cost treatment to the beneficiaries in both government and private hospital. In the new phase of the scheme, the health cover has been increased from 3 lakhs to 5 lakhs. Around 1.1 crore beneficiaries will be provided with a health insurance of Rs. 5 lakhs.

Government of Karnataka collaborated with Amazon India for boosting e-commerce export
Government of Karnataka has signed an MoU with Amazon India for strengthening the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and for boosting the e-commerce exports from the states. As per the MoU, workshops will be established for imparting training to the MSMEs and sharing knowledge about B2C e-commerce exports and online selling through Amazon. The workshops will be set up at Bellary, Mysore and Channapatna. Amazon has 300 million customers worldwide. The Amazon Global Selling Program was launched in India in 2015.
Odisha government collaborates with UNICEF for launching dashboard for the teachers
State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and Directorate of Teacher Education of Odisha government have collaborated with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for launching an interactive dashboard based on Geographical Information System (GIS) for the Teacher Education Institutes (TEI). The dashboard will enable the monitoring of the annual academic calendar by the TEIs for improving the quality of teacher training. The dashboard also comes with a feedback system which will analyze the shortcomings and take corrective measures.

Nutrition Program launched by Cargill, UN WFP and CRB in Rajasthan
US-based food sector giant, Cargill in collaboration with United Nations World Food Programme and Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) launched a nutrition programme in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The program aims to improve the nutritional status in the state and also to address the problem of malnutrition in children and women which is the cause behind stunting and anemia in the state. The program will be co-ordinated by Department of Women & Child Development, Government of Rajasthan. The program will include the Anganwadi Centres for enhancing nutritional quality.
Karnataka launches 1st of its kind initiative of distributing Old Age Pensions by Navodaya App
Karnataka government launched the Navodaya mobile application for automatically selecting old-age pensioners who will be paid their pension via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. The app was launched by Karnataka CM, BS Yediyurappa and the initiative has been implemented in Udupi and Ballari Districts of the state on pilot basis. This initiative will help the pensioners to avail pension without the help of middlemen. The government intends to start distributing widow, disability and other pensions through the app shortly.

Wipro becomes the knowledge partner of MP government
Madhya Pradesh government has joined hands with the Wipro group to appoint the IT-firm as the knowledge partner of the government. Wipro will help the MP government in proper formulation and implementation of education policy in view of the New Education Policy of the Central government. Wipro has initiated the establishment of a University in Bhopal under the AzimPremji Foundation. Wipro will also set up a Software Development Centre in Bhopal. Azim Premji Foundation is currently working with over 1151 middle and primary schools across MP.

Yogi Aditynath launches Udyam Sarathi app on Uttar Pradesh Foundation Day
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath launched the ‘Udyam Sarathi’ mobile application for the youths of the state for exploring self-employment opportunities. The app has been developed under the One District One Product (ODOP) Scheme in accordance with ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas’ vision of the state government. The application will provide information related to self-employment opportunities to the youth. It will also provide instructions for availing benefits of different government schemes and credit support for starting their own enterprise.

Gujarat govt. joins hand with Adani Group to setup India’s largest Multi-Model Logistic Park
The government of Gujarat has signed an MoU with Adani Ports Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) for establishing India’s largest Multi-Model Logistics Park at Virochan Nagar in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The MoU was signed by Karan Gautam Adani of APSEZ and Additional Secretary, M K Das. Under the MoU the Multi-Model Logistics Park will be constructed over an area of 1450 acres at an estimated cost of Rs. 50,000 crores and will be completed by 2023. The park will have direct road, rail and air connectivity.
IIM Indore to build roadmap for ‘Atmanirbhar Madhya Pradesh’
Indian Institute of Management (IIM)- Indore has signed an MoU with the government of Madhya Pradesh for building a roadmap for ‘Atmanirbhar Madhya Pradesh’. The MoU will valid for 3 years under which the institute will help the government in framing New Industrial Policy for improving the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and provide advisory support & management consultancy for national and global summits. IIM-Indore will also devise strategic campaigns for ‘Brand Madhya Pradesh’ as ‘Atmanirbhar Evam Samriddh’.
J & K Administrative Council approves adoption of ‘J & K Industrial Land Allotment Policy-2021-30’
The Administrative Council of Jammu & Kashmir has approved adoption of the ‘Jammu & Kashmir Industrial Land Allotment Policy 2021-30’ on 22nd January, 2021. J & K’s Administrative Council is chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The objective of the policy is to achieve employment generation and sustainable industrialization in Jammu & Kashmir. Under this policy, lands will be allotted for the educational and medical institutions and educational and medical cities will also be established. Framework for the regulation of zoning of industrial areas will also be laid down.
India’s longest road arch bridge formally inaugurated in Meghalaya
Meghalay CM, Conrad K Sangma officially inaugurated the Wahrew Bridge on 22nd January, 2021 at Sohbar, Meghalaya. Wahrew Bridge is the longest road arch bridge of India connecting Bholaganj and Sohbar to Nongjri in East Khasi Hills bordering Bangladesh. The construction of the bridge was completed in 2018 at a cost of Rs. 49.395 crores sanctioned by Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) of the Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region. The bridge was dedicated to the late former Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Dr. Donkupar Roy.

Andhra Pradesh becomes the 1st state to launch Door Delivery of rations to the Ration Card holders
Andhra Pradesh has become the 1st state to provide Door Delivery of the rations to the Ration Card holders under Public Distribution System (PDS). The Door Delivery service will benefit 26,39,363 cardholders across the state. The AP government will bear an additional cost of Rs. 830 crores per year for the continuation of the delivery services. Under the initiative, a fleet of 9260 subsidized vehicles with Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking has been flagged off by the AP Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Rajasthan government signs tripartite agreement for mining Potash
Rajasthan government’s Department of Mines and Geology has signed as tripartite agreement with Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL) and Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (RSMML) for mining Potassium from areas of Nagaur, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Bikaner. The Government of India’s MECL tends to establish the 1st solution mining hub of Potassium in India. As per the confirmations from the Geological Survey of India (GSI) and MECL, it is estimated that about 21199.38 million tonnes of Halite and 2476.58 million tonnes of Potash is spread over an area of 50,000 sq. Kms in the Nagaur-Ganganagar basin.

Karnataka CM rolls out ‘Avalokana Software’ for transparent e-governance
Chief Minister of Karnataka, B.S Yediyurappa has launched the ‘Avalokana Software’ for improving the transparency in the governance. The Transparent e-governance tool will enable the Karnataka government to access the expenditure and sanctions of different departments of the government. The digital tool will provide access to the expenditures related to 1800 programmes currently active in the state under 39 departments. The software will also help the policymakers in allocating funds for different programmes and also help in saving a lot of money.
Maharashtra govt. signs MoU with BSE for encouraging the listing of SMEs
Maharashtra government has signed an MoU with Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) for encouraging the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) to undergo listing of their enterprises in the BSE. This will help the SMEs in capital-raising from the public capital market. Under the MoU, BSE will provide intellectual assistance to the representatives of the SMEs of the state in different capacity building programmes. The SMEs will be listed in the BSE through its ‘SME platform’ launched in March, 2012 which already has 331 companies listed.

Gujarat CM announces ‘Mukhyamantri Bagayat Vikas Mission’
Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani officially announced that the government of Gujarat will launch ‘Mukhyamantri Bagayat Vikas Mission’ for the development of horticulture in the state. The mission will encourage the farmers to grow export quality herbal plants with medicinal properties to generate extra income. Under the mission, around 20,000 hectares of government’s waste lands will be given to the farmers on lease for growing the horticultural crops for 30 years and the lands will be free from Land Conversion Tax. Farmers can take the lands on lease at a rate of Rs. 100 to Rs. 500 per acre per year from 6th to 30th year.
MP has become the 1st state to subsidize electric power for the farmers
Madhya Pradesh has become the first state of India to give subsidy in the electricity bills to the farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme. With the announcement of the subsidy scheme, it has implemented one out of three stipulated reforms in the Power sector. MP is now eligible to borrow an additional capital equivalent to 0.15 % of its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). Electricity in MP is supplied by Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Co Ltd. The power subsidy scheme has been implemented in the Vidisha District on pilot basis and will be implemented across the state by the next year.

Assam CM lays foundation stone of Science City at Tepesia
Assam CM, Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of Science City at Tepesia, Assam on 18th January, 2021. The Science City will be set up at an estimated cost of Rs. 184 crores for popularizing science and technology at the grass root level. The Science City will be built over an area of 40 hectares. It will be jointly constructed by the National Council of Science Museum, Department of Cultural Affairs and Department of Science and Technology. The total cost of construction will be split among the Government of India and Government of Assam in 90:10 ratio.
Governments of Telangana and Gujarat collaborate to boost Women Entrepreneurship
Telangana government’s Women Entrepreneurship Hub (WE-Hub) has partnered with Gujarat government’s Independent Hub (I-Hub) for supporting women startups and helping them in capital raising. Under this partnership, 240 women entrepreneurs will be selected for the Pre-Incubation Programme and out of them only 20 will be shortlisted for the Joint Incubation Programme of WE-Hub and I-Hub. WE-Hub is India’s 1st state-level Incubator set up in 2017, exclusively for women entrepreneurs. The programme will start from the 1st week of February.

Capt. Amrinder Singh starts allotment of Fair Price Shops in Punjab
Punjab’s CM Captain Amrinder Singh has started the process of allotting 7,219 Fair Price Shops (FPS) across Punjab as a part of the ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar Te Karoobaar Mission’. Under this initiative, License of the FPS will be provided to the eligible youth of Punjab. This will boost the local economy along with improving the network of Public Distribution Systems (PDS). The initiative aims to give employment to 30,000 people. The ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar Te Karoobaar Mission’ was launched in 2017 and has provided 15 lakh employments in the state since its inception.

CM Nitish Kumar inaugurates Bihar’s 1st Bird Festival ‘Kalrav’
Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar has inaugurated Bihar’s 1st state-level bird festival ‘Kalrav’ on 16th January, 2021. It was a three day festival starting from 15th January, 2021. Kalrav was organized by Bihar’s Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department at Nagi Bird Sanctuary and Nakti Bird Sanctuary in Jamui District. The bird festival was aimed to make people aware about the migratory bird species coming to Bihar during the winter season. Nitish Kumar also inaugurated a ‘Bird Awareness Centre’ at the Nagi Bird Sanctuary which is also famous for varieties of dragonflies, damselflies and butterflies.

Madhya Pradesh signs MoU with Kerala to emulate Responsible Tourism initiative
Madhya Pradesh government has signed an MoU with Kerala government for replicating Kerala’s Responsible Tourism initiative for ensuring the economic welfare of the society, social & cultural stability and environmental protection in the state. Under the MoU, members of Kerala’s Responsible Tourism Mission team will be involved in the implementation of the initiative in Madhya Pradesh. This will develop the rural areas using the tool of tourism involving local people of MP. A team of 13 members led by Tourism Minister of MP, Usha Thakur will visit different parts of Kerala for collecting first-hand knowledge about the Responsible Tourism initiative that was launched in Kerala in 2017.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand get Doppler Weather Radars on 146th IMD Foundation Day
Doppler Weather Radars have been set up in Kufri, Himachal Pradesh and Mukteshwar, Uttarakhand on the occasion of 146th India Meteorology Department (IMD) Foundation Day on 15th January, 2021. The Doppler Weather Radar Stations were inaugurated by the Union Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Harsh Vardhan. The advanced Doppler Weather Radars have been set up under the Integrated Himalayan Meteorological Project (IHMP) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences. The Doppler Weather Radars are capable of providing valuable support to disaster management departments and farmers of both the states.

Haryana gets India’s 1st Air Taxi Service under RCS-UDAN
Haryana CM, Shree Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated India’s 1st Air Taxi Service on 14th January, 2021 for connecting Chandigarh Airport to Hisar Airport via air route. The Air Taxi Service has been launched under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) - Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN). The Air Taxi Service will be operated by Indian airline startup, Aviation Connectivity & Infrastructure Developers Pvt. Ltd (Air Taxi) using Tecnam P2006T VT twin engine 4-seater aircraft. The aircraft fleet has been made by Costruzioni Aeronautiche Tecnam.

J & K government ties-up with NECBDC for boosting bamboo cultivation
Jammu & Kashmir government has signed an MoU with North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) for promoting bamboo cultivation in the area. Under the MoU, NECBDC will provide technical assistance in cultivating various export quality bamboo varieties. The MoU aims to boost the bamboo related industry and enterprises which will create various employment opportunities. The MoU will also support the ‘Har Medh Par Ped’ mission which encourages the farmers to plant trees on their field bunds.

The One-Time Settlement Scheme gets approved by the Punjab Cabinet
The ‘One-Time Settlement Scheme for Recovery of Outstanding Dues- 2021’ has been approved by the Punjab Cabinet led by Capt. Amrinder Singh. The scheme aims to facilitate the traders in clearing the pending liabilities under the Punjab Value Added Tax Act, 2005 & Central Sales Tax Act, 1956. The scheme has been launched for the helping the Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to cope up with economic losses due the ongoing pandemic. The dealers/traders, who have filed assessments upto 31st December, 2021 will be allowed to apply for OTS Scheme till 30th April, 2021.

GSI explorations place Arunachal Pradesh on India’s Vanadium Map
Explorations carried out by the Geological Survey of India (GSI) have found significant concentrations of Vanadium in the Paleo-Proterozoic Carbonaceous Phylite rocks that increases the chances of discovering deposits of Vanadium (23V51) in some parts of Arunachal Pradesh. Vanadium is valuable metal used for strengthening Titanium and Steel. At present, no natural deposits have been discovered in India. Vanadium in India is obtained by processing Vanadiferruous Magnetite Ores which is insufficient for fulfilling the domestic requirement which is 4 % of the total global production (84,000 MT). China is the largest producer of Vanadium.
Assam CM starts Pink Bus Service for women and senior citizens
Pink Bus Service of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has been launched by Assam CM, Sarbananda Sonowal. Sonowal flagged-off the fleet of 25 buses from Guwahati. The Pink Buses will offer free-of-cost traveling within the Guwahati city under the Bhraman Sarathi Scheme. ASTC has played a vital role in the transportation of essential goods across the entire North-Eastern region and also brought back the migrant workers from distant parts of India. The Pink Buses will run on a fixed schedule in the 5 routes of Guwahati and the buses will be easily identifiable because of their distinct Pink color.

Parashuram Kund Pilgrimage Site of Arunachal Pradesh to be revamped for tourists
The pilgrimage site of Parashuram Kund of Lohit District in Arunachal Pradesh will be developed into a tourist place to attract domestic pilgrims as well as foreign tourists. The Parashuram Kund is situated on the bank of the River Lohit where pilgrims come for taking holy bath on the occasion of Makar Sankranti celebrated on 14th January every year. A sum of Rs. 37.8 crores has been sanctioned by the Government of India for the development of the pilgrimage site and construction of accommodation areas for the tourists.
Manipur CM inaugurates Cherry Blossom Mao Festival virtually
CM of Manipur, Nongthombam Biren Singh virtually inaugurated the Cherry Blossom Mao Festival of Senapati from the CM Secretariat, Imphal. The Cherry Blossom Mao Festival of Senapati District marks the start of the Pink Season in the area. During the Cherry blossom, the flowers of Cherry (Prunus cerasoides) trees spread over East and West Khasi Hills bloom together making the Khasi Hills look pink. The Cherry blossom festival attracts large number of tourists from different parts of the country. The blossom is also observed in Meghalaya in October and November. Japan attracts a huge number of foreign tourists during its Cherry Blossom Festival.

Manipur government rolls-out ‘COSFOM’ for forest and water resource management
The Community-based Sustainable Forest Management for Water Resource Conservation in Manipur (COSFOM) web portal was launched by the Forest, Environment & Climate Change Minister of Manipur, Awangbow Newmai at the Forest Headquarters in Sanjenthong. COSFOM has been launched to function as a component of ‘Climate Change Adaption in the Himalaya’, supported by Government of India and Federal Government of Germany. The ‘Climate Change Adaption in the Himalaya’ Project works on community-based holistic approach for the conservation of water resources in the forest areas. The Project is being financially supported by Germany-based KfW Bank.
Andhra Pradesh ties-up with Cambridge University for improving English proficiency of the students and teachers
Andhra Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Cambridge for enhancing the English proficiency of the students and teachers of the State Municipal Schools in AP. The municipal schools are administered by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department. The MoU aims to set up 14 career guidance centers across all 13 Districts of AP. The representatives of University of Cambridge will train 12,378 teachers and 2 lakh students from the municipal schools for 30 days.

Jammu & Kashmir Administration launches ‘Satark Nagrik’ app
‘Satark Nagrik’ mobile application has been launched by the Lieutenant-Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shree Manoj Sinha at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu. The newly launched mobile app will facilitate the flow of information regarding the practice of corrupt activities by the officials. Now the citizens of J & K will be able to inform the government about corruption and submit their grievances easily from their smartphones. Apart from the ‘Satark Nagrik’ app, the J & K LG also launched Departmental Vigilance Officers Portal which will be administered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Karnataka CM flags off ‘Krishi Sanjeevani’ vans for helping the farmers
Karnataka CM, B S Yediyurappa has launched ‘Krishi Sanjeevani’ vans for testing soil and water samples in the rural areas of the state. The vans will also have subject matter specialists for suggesting remedies and advanced methods for effective pest control. The ‘Krishi Sanjeevani’ vans have been equipped with the latest tools and equipments for accurate chemical analysis of the soil and water. The pest control remedies to be suggested by the specialists will be based on the chemical properties of the soil and water samples of each farm.
M P Govt. plans to operationalise the world’s largest floating solar energy project by 2022-23
Madhya Pradesh government has decided to start power generation from the world’s largest floating solar energy project by 2022-23. The floating solar power project is getting constructed in the Onkareshwar Dam in Khandwa District of Madhya Pradesh. The floating solar power project is spread over 2000-hectares of water surface and will have a capacity of producing 600 Megawatts (MW). The estimated budget of the mega project is Rs. 3,000 crores which is being supported by World Bank, International Finance Corporation and Power Grid.

Uttar Pradesh govt. launches Kisan Kalyan Mission for doubling farmer’s income
Three week-long, Kisan Kalyan Mission was launched by CM Yogi Adityanath for doubling the income of the farmers in Uttar Pradesh. The campaign will be organized in all 75 districts of UP. The campaign will exhibit scientific methods of farming and train the farmers with latest ‘Know-How’ of agriculture and allied sectors. The campaign will provide information about various farmer-oriented schemes and also help them in availing the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PMKSN), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and Kisan Credit Card (KCC).
Madhya Pradesh unveils ‘Launch Pad Scheme’ for youths from Child Care Institutions
Madhya Pradesh government has unveiled the ‘Launch Pad Scheme’ for providing employment opportunities to the young individuals coming out of the child care institutions after completing 18 years. The scheme will provide Rs. 6 lakhs and space for setting up and opening photocopy shops, stationary shops computer typing cabins and coffee stalls to make the youths from child care institutions to become self-reliant and continue their higher studies. The ‘Launch Pad Scheme’ has been launched under the ‘Child Protection Scheme’ which will be implemented by the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

Odisha CM inaugurates India’s 1st Fire Park at Bhubaneswar
India’s 1st Fire Park at the Fire Disaster Academy in Bhubaneswar was virtually inaugurated by Odisha CM, Naveen Patnaik on 5th January, 2021. The Fire Park aims to make the school and college students aware of the fire safety measures. General Public will be allowed to enter the Fire Park on every Saturday from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The Fire Park will demonstrate the use of First Aid and firefighting equipments and will also screen films on rescue and disaster relief operations in its exhibition hall. The Fire Park will also distribute Fire Hazard Safety leaflets to the public during the visit.
India’s 1st Centralized Network Lab inaugurated in Faridabad, Haryana
Dr. Harsh Vardhan has inaugurated Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) lab in Faridabad as India’s 1st Centralized Network Laboratory. The laboratory has been set up in the campus of Translational Health Science & Technology Institute (THSTI), Faridabad. The CEPI lab has been integrated with the other 6 labs in the Global Network developed by CEPI Foundation. The Ind-CEPI Mission will be implemented by the Department of Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science and Technology. Wellcome Trust, Bill and Melida Gates Foundations and World Economic Forum are the main founders of CEPI Foundation.
Patna Meteorological Observatory receives the ‘Centennial Observing Status’ from WMO
World Meteorological Organization, Geneva has conferred Bihar’s Patna Meteorological Observatory with the status of ‘Centennial Observing Station’ for its contributions in long-term meteorological observations for more than a century. Patna Meteorological Observatory was established by British Corps of Engineers in 1867.The status of ‘Centennial Observing Station’ is given to those meteorological observatories that maintain the world’s longest robust records of weather observations, which are analyzed to study global warming. WMO is a specialized organization of United Nations (UN) that promotes international cooperation on meteorological studies.
World’s longest railway platform to be inaugurated in Karnataka by March
World’s longest railway platform is being constructed at Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Railway Station in Hubbali, Karnataka. The platform will be 1500 meters long and 10 meters wide and is scheduled to be inaugurated in the month of March, 2021. The estimated cost of the construction is around Rs. 90 crores. The construction is being carried out under the Doubling-Project between Hubbali and Bengaluru Railway Station. The project started in November, 2019. After the official inauguration of the railway platform of Hubbali, the Gorakhpur Railway Station of Uttar Pradesh will be the world’s second longest railway station which is 1366 meters long.

NBCC collaborates with JKIT for setting up IT Towers in Jammu and Srinagar
National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) has signed an MoU with Jammu & Kashmir IT Infrastructure Development Company for setting up Information Technology (IT) towers in Jammu and Srinagar. The total budget allocated for the construction of both the towers is Rs. 100 crores. The MoU will promote IT-startups in Jammu & Kashmir leading to employment generation and playing an important role in achieving self-reliant status. The construction of the IT towers will be completed in 15 to 17 months.

TRIFED to set up TRIFOOD Parks in Madhya Pradesh
Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED) has signed an MoU with Akhil Bhartiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram for setting up TRIFOOD Parks in 5 districts of Madhya Pradesh. The TRIFOD Parks will be involved in collection and processing of raw materials from the Van Dhan Kendras. The processed products will be sold across India through the outlets of Tribes India. The MoU aims to increase the income of the tribals by utilizing Minor Forest Produce (MFP). TRIFED and Akhil Bhartiya Vanvasi Kalayan Ashram will also work on efficient implementation of Van Dhan Yojana.

ADB extends a $ 231 million loan for building hydroelectric power plant in Assam
Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a loan agreement with India for providing financial assistance in the construction of 120 Megawatt (MW) Hydroelectric Power Plant in Assam. The hydroelectric power plant will boost the clean power generation capacity of the state. The power plant will be constructed over the Kopili River. The hydroelectric power plant will reduce the emissions of Green House Gases (GHGs) by 3,60,000 tons. Some proportion of the loan will be used for the development of Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd (APGCL).
Jharkhand government launches Kisan Fasal Rahat Yojana
Jharkhand government has launched its own crop relief scheme named as ‘Kisan Fasal Rahat Yojana’ to replace the Central government’s crop insurance scheme- Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). The new crop relief scheme aims to provide security cover to the farmers against crop damage due to natural calamities. The implementation of the scheme will be undertaken by Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Co-operative, Jharkhand. The scheme has been launched to protect the paddy growers of the state. The scheme also aims to promote crop diversification and ensure food security in Jharkhand.
