Bajrang Punia: India's Golden Boy of Wrestling

Bajrang Punia was born on 26 February 1994, in the Jhajjar district in the state of Haryana, India.

He began wrestling at the age of seven and was coached by his father, Balwan Singh, who was also a wrestler.

Bajrang Punia has won several medals in international tournaments, including gold medals at Asian Games & Commonwealth Games.

In 2018, he won the gold medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Budapest, Hungary in the 65 kg weight category.

In 2021, Bajrang Punia married a fellow wrestler, Sangeeta Phogat in a low-key ceremony in Phogat's village in Haryana.

He is known for his aggressive wrestling style and is often referred to as a "technician on the mat."

Bajrang Punia was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2015 and Padma Shri award in 2019, one of India's highest civilian awards.

He has a degree in physical education from Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Haryana.

Bajrang Punia has been ranked as the world's number one wrestler in the 65 kg weight category by the United World Wrestling.
