Fascinating Facts You Never Knew About Penguins

According to some animal experts, penguins are one of the most streamlined animals in the aquatic world.

The world's oldest penguin fossil dates back 61 million years found near Waipara River in New Zealand's Canterbury region.

There are at least 17 species of penguins and all of them reside in Southern Hemisphere of Earth all the way up to Antartica.

The smallest type of penguin is only around 10 to 12 inches tall, they're found in Australia, New Zealand, and Tasmania.

The majority of penguin species are monogamous. During mating season, one male penguin will pair off with one female penguin.

Gentoo penguins are the fastest penguin species. In the water, they can reach swimming speeds of 22 miles an hour.
