I M Vijayan was born in Kerala, India in 1969 and rose to become one of the greatest footballers in the country's history.

Vijayan won numerous awards throughout his career, including the AIFF Player of the Year award three times.
In the 1999 SAF Games against Bhutan, he scored one of the fastest goals, by scoring in 12 seconds after the kickoff.
