Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island that is 280 m (920 ft) from Jumeirah Beach and is connected to the mainland.

The shape of the structure is designed to resemble the sail of a ship. It has a helipad near the roof, at a height of 210m.

Renowned Chinese interior designer Khuan Chew of KCA International, is the woman behind Burj Al Arab's distinctive interiors.

At a staggering $24,000 a night, hotel has one of the most expensive Presidential suite in the entire world.

Featuring a spiral staircase, the two-floor suite offers a living and dining area, an ensuite bedroom with ocean views.

The beachfront area where Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel are located was previously called Chicago Beach.
