MG Motor India on Wednesday launched its latest model Comet at an introductory price of Rs 7.98 lakh.

MG Comet EV is now the cheapest electric vehicle on sale in the Indian market by beating the likes of Tata Tiago.

Comet EV is built on the pure electric GSEV platform, it is the fastest to hit the one million EV sales mark globally.

MG Motor, a wholly-owned arm of China’s SAIC Motor Corp, has invested around Rs 700 crore in the development of Comet.

Comet comes with a driving range of around 230 km on a single charge. It comes with a 17.3 KWH lithium-ion battery.

The two-door hatch comes with an automatic transmission, two front airbags and a reverse parking camera etc.

The whole point of the Comet is being a city car and it is not meant for long highway trips but for city trips.

The 17.3 kWh battery pack and a rear axle motor develops a respectable 40PS but it is the 230-km range that is impressive.
