Modi Inaugurates Kerala's First Vande Bharat Express

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Kerala's 1st Vande Bharat at the Thiruvanathapuram Railway Station on 25 April.

Kerala's first Vande Bharat Express will connect Thiruvananthapuram with the northernmost Kasaragod district.

Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were also present at the ocassion.

The train will halt for a duration of two minutes at 14 stations will reach the destination in 10 hours and 45 minutes.

The Vande Bharat Express is an electric multiple-unit train operated by Indian Railways, which runs upto speed of 100kmph.

It has 16 coaches and are lighter as compared to other trains. Fully air-conditioned with automatic doors and LED lighting.

The bogies have fully suspended traction motors along with a state-of-the-art suspension system making the running smoother.

There is a driver's cabin at each end of the train, which helps in faster turnaround at terminating stations.

Compared to the time taken by Rajdhani Express, Vande Bharat will reduce travel time by more than an hour.
